A key feature supporting high availability is Formbird’s continuous data audit. Data is never deleted or overwritten; therefore, all data entered is maintained as a historical record with the most current version displayed to users. Data auditing provides Formbird with the ability to easily identify and distribute new data, for example, to an offline user or a replicated Formbird server.
A Formbird server may, for example, be in a remote location with poor communications. Local users accessing the server will update records and when the Formbird server establishes communications with a central or a replicated Formbird server, the new records will be updated across all servers. All Formbird servers will have the latest information saved as the most current record while retaining all previous entries for historical purposes.
Replicated Formbird servers can be located in the same or different geographical regions. Near real time, two way replication allows Formbird customers to have multiple Formbird servers on-line simultaneously while at the same time providing a hot fail over capability.
Leveraging data only replication offers a number of advantages over simple hardware / operating system replication that only protects against hardware failure. Formbird data replication and distribution protects your data against hardware failure as well as human error.
In addition, a Formbird server has a defined “health check” web service supporting the external monitoring of a Formbird server at the application level. Health check provides the ability to deliver automated failover as well as the monitoring of a specific server.
On top of Formbird’s own capability the underlying databases of MongoDB, Couchbase and Elasticsearch all provide high availability, distributed data features to enhance both performance and data security.
By leveraging the inherent capability of these databases, Formbird is able to to what we call “Hot Upgrades”. This is the ability to upgrade a standby server, synchronize the data and switch users to the updated server without interruption. This capability provides very low downtime for scheduled events.
When your application is running on a Formbird server, it is protected by advanced physical security and protocols including a multi-layered access control system with individual authentication using combined biometric technology and ID access cards (IDACs), an extensive CCTV network and 24/7 onsite security staff.
The hostd Formbird cloud environments are all within Tier 3 hosted infrastructure, utilizing the today’s most scalable private cloud technologies.
Formbird infrastructure includes remote real-time monitoring and control including infrastructure visualization and management, connectivity tracking, reporting, multiple mobile phone alerts and notifications.
Formbird servers are continuously monitored through an advanced control counsel which reports in real time the conditional state of each virtual machine including transaction volumes, CPU cycles, memory usage, storage usage and IO metrics. Performance parameters are set and automatically monitored with alerts sent to administrator’s phones should performance standards fall below preset thresholds.

If for any reason access to the Formbird server is lost, the application will automatically failover to the mirrored server in the second data center.
