Formbird Pty Ltd (previously FieldTec Pty Ltd) is an Australian aPaaS software company, based in Victoria, Australia. Formbird has nearly two decades of experience developing applications in Customer Relationship Management, Asset Management and Mobile Work Force Management.
In 2000, FieldTec developed Focus, a Microsoft .NET Mobile Work Force and Call Centre Management System. Focus was adopted by a number of utilities and city councils to manage their assets in coordination with their mobile workforces.
Focus was a leading edge application in its time. However, over the years, Focus became difficult to support and difficult to modify to meet the ever-changing and expanding needs of FieldTec’s customers.
Approximately 4 years ago, FieldTec rearchitected its solution set. FieldTec knew that a rapid development capability, aligned with an agile, fault tolerant and scalable architecture, would be essential ingredients for a successful future. Taking the knowledge and customer requirements from the previous 15 years of development, the seeds of Formbird were planted. The goal was to have a no compromise technology both architecturally and functionally. As a result, FieldTec created a low-code, rapid application development platform (aPaaS) and named it Formbird.
Using the Formbird development platform and their previous experience in Mobile Workforce Management, Formbird developed Focus3, a SaaS application. Focus3 is now installed in a number of large water utilities and city councils to manage field work, asset management and provide risk and compliance management.
Formbird the company, realised that Formbird the platform, had huge potential as a development platform for a broad range of applications. To that end, Formbird began growing relationships with other software companies so that they could use Formbird to design and build new applications and rearchitect old ones.
Encouraged by the success of Focus3, a number of companies began developing their own software applications. There is now a growing list of off-the-shelf applications that can be subscribed to or used as templates for further development.
Access to the Formbird development platform is available to partners as well as to customers that want to develop their own, in-house applications. Most customers that implement a Formbird application rapidly decide to develop a second and a third. Applications can share data and common utilities like reporting, AI and analytics.
Whether you are a company that wants to develop your own applications or a company that has domain expertise that you want to leverage to create a SaaS application to license, Formbird makes it possible.
